Generic conventions of dance movies, ideas that we can convert to comedy...Our movie research/ideas

We came up with generic conventions that we could possibly manipulate to make fun of the (dance) drama genre:

- There's a competition: the prize could be really bad, and this could be said through voice over e.g. like a years supply of energy drinks and you can stand in the background of a dance video, 'We're getting those drinks if it's the last thing we do' 'a thousand pounds... of coupons...'

- There's a conflicting point: the movie is based off bullying and later a funny mocking match at the end between the two rival dance crews 'your momma'

- They normally involve underdogs: we could use the lowest types of underdogs from each social groups: a wannabe gangsta, a geek, a posh/rich girl, quiet one (doesn't speak), enthusiastic ones

- Theres's a romance: there could between geeks

- There are dynamic camera movements: make them overly drmamtic

- There is reference to gangs and ballerinas: We could have a conventional stereotypes like talking about 'chicken and chips' and a character that has been dancing since she was 5 and is really bad

- They often strongly use stereotypes

- They bring different types of dance together e.g. ballroom dancing, hip hop, ballet: Swing dancing have them on swings, 'swing dancing... you mean on swings'
- They often use water for dramatic effect
- There is a club or disco setting
- They are normally based in schools and feature teenagers
- They often have dramatic black out flashes
